Chum.ly in swedish? This is my personal or private account on chum.ly, which means I'll be doing a lot of posting in my native tounge. In the future I hope to be able to import posts from my site, lancefestivalen.se, as well as export posts from here.

Ok, everybody. Thanks to /johngotts, I've now taken over the username /lance, which I will use as my "official" chum.ly account. It's shorter and sweeter than the bulky /lancefestivalen (which will remain active, but as a private/personal account).
Any "official" business you might have with me from now on, should therefore be addressed to /lance instead of /lancefestivalen.

I think I know why this happened...
In the exported post there is no visible space between johns username and the first word of the sentence. This has to do with me choosing to press "enter" twice to move the message two lines below the list of recipients. Just like I did in this message. No space and thus the username johngotts140 is stripped out, instead of just /johngotts.
If I'm right, this message should begin "/marc think I know...", once it's exported to twitter.

The question of collapsing posts that are longer than 500 characters isn't an easy one. And your post does raise - in a way - the issue of content vs. flow.
Where twitter is "flow", blogspot is "content". And chum.ly is right in the middle, being both and neither. Perhaps we'll simply have to evaluate the 500 limit for a day or two. Get the feel for it. Then we'll see if we need to push that limit either way or think differently.
I'm getting close to 500 chrs now, and there's still plenty of room left until I start pushing people offscreen. Is there perhaps a way to set the limit according to the size of the post instad. A max number of lines, perhaps? (15?) Or perhaps set the limit so that when the post overflows the editing frame (i.e. where you write your posts - I'm not sure about the correct term), it gets "cut" there when posting?
(This post ended up 914 characters long.)

140 characters is a low number. And even if it wasn't, isn' t it one of our main points when trying to attract tweeters, t <--140 character limit!
... attract tweeters, that they can write much longer posts?
I could live with a 280 limit, just to make posts twice as big as over on twitter (that'll show'em!), but I also think marc has a point when suggesting a 500 limit.

I wish more confirmation emails were more like this one from fluther.com, it's beautiful:
"Your confirmation email has arrived, Like Hermes, floating on his winged boots. One press upon the link contained herein shall prove your worthiness to float within the varied, sparkling sea of jellythoughts: Athena's home amidst vast Neptune's realm – a thought-filled room bedecked with sparkling gems.
No spammer, griefer, troller shall you be. For once you press upon that link above transfiguration thereupon awaits along with hope and humor. Lo! for once a jellyfish has found her ilk in name, No other site shall ever be the same." #fluther

It's a great offer! I'll go for /lance since it's sort of become my nickname here, anyway. Sending you my gmail address as we speak. :)

Yes, that will definately be an improvement!

The link worked and I have now downloaded the pdf's and they're waiting to be read. Can't say when I'll be able to get to it, though.
What impresses me at first glance it the level of productivity! Your'e talking about thousands and thousands of pages - of what? Nonsense? We'll see about that later, I guess! - But still, thousands of pages! And that's just your writing...
I was going to ask you how you find the time, but i think that question was already answered a while back. ;)
Have a good weekend!

If it's possible, there's also the question of geographics. Being an evangelist based in europe, I'd probably be of a lot more help to a european newcomer than an american - with the time difference and all...

I would love to read that hospice book, Alex! When do you start taking pre-orders? ;)
The way you describe it makes me automatically think of Mervyn Peake's Gormenghast novels. Have you read them? If not, you should. So surreal and yet so realistic...
